New pictures
New pictures of Alex are up in the first 3 weeks and six weeks galleries. Good stuff in the six weeks one. He's smiling a lot lately and we got it on camera!

Grandma and grandpa Jebe have taken Alex from us for the weekend. We have mixed emotions about it. It great to be able to get things done, or just relax, but we both miss having our little guy around. We took advantage of his absense last night by going to Madison to meet our new nephew. Very exciting. Then on the way home we stopped and had some delicious beers ! It's a good weekend so far.

Nate - bringer of hope
I had a great conversation yesterday with my friend Nate. He also has a newborn, and I noticed that he is smiling in all of his pictures. I commented to Nate about this, and it turns out that his experience with being a father was very similar to my own. Just hearing that some one else gets as frustrated and worn down by the process made me feel a lot better. I guess I'm not alone. He also said that everything changed with his son around the 2-3 month period. That gives me something to look forward to.

In the mean time, my sister in law is going in to have her baby today. Congrats to Julie and Mike on the soon to be birth of their child! Carrie and I really look forward having our children grow up together! We hope everything goes great for you.

All the news
Not a ton is new since the last real post, but there have been a couple notables. First of all, I'm done being sick, which is great. Secondly, Alex seems to really be good with this new ( very expensive ) formula. In fact we tried something new this weekend. We packed a bunch of stuff up and drove Alex to my Mom and Dad's house. He spent the night there, and allowed Carrie and I to go on a date night . I almost fell alseep before the dinner was over, but at least we got out.

There are some new pictures up in the gallery . I like the one of him smiling . He does that now. It's very exciting.

I guess that's all the new stuff for now. Let's hope there will be no further blizzards this year.

Yuck
Two major things have happened since my last update. The first is that my cold developed further and has left me with a 102 degree fever. That's not a lot of fun. So for two days now I've been at home instead of at work. I got in to see a doctor who got me some antibiotics. Things should be getting better, but in the mean time Carrie has had to take care of Alex 100%. On top of that she's not gotten much sleep because of all my coughing, etc. I just hope no one else here at home catches my illness.

The other news is much better. We talked to the Doctor on Monday, and they recommended another formula change for Alex. The new formula is super expensive, hypoallergenic, lactose free, and easier to digest. Will it be worth it? So far, it's been magic. Its a little too early to tell for sure, but it seems like things are looking up. For the first time in my experience with Alex, he has been awake for long periods of time without crying or fussing. Let's hope this is a sign of good things to come.

Opportunity Lost
The good news is Alex has really only woken up once each night for three days running. A one month old and almost sleeping through the night is a huge thing, and a very welcome thing. I'm still not 100% convinced that its a trend that will continue, but I'm happy to have it for now.

The bad news is, I'm still feeling like crap. It could be a lot worse from what I've heard, so I'm thankful for now. Still, it would be nice to get some good sleep while Alex is providing me the opportunity.

The sleeper has awoken
Two things worth mentioning corss my mind. Carrie already covered in her blog that Alex has slept for much longer periods of time at night for two days straight. Neither Carrie or I want to verbally state that we think this trend will continue, but we both deeply wish it to. Basically this means he only really waking up once a night to eat. You can imagine the impact this has on the amount of sleep we get. Fingers crossed .

The second item of note today is that since Friday I've felt ill. Half of the people I work with (in my office and at customers) have had the recent stomach flu . So when I started feeling like crap on Friday I feared that I had finally contracted said illness. Of course I worry about spreading it to either Carrie or Alex. As of today I'm speculating that I'm not in fact contageous. In fact this illness feels a lot like the bi-annual sinus-infection / runny nose / sore throat thing I get whent he seasons change. That woud be great news, because I could stop worrying. Lets hope.
