I R Terrible Blogger
Wow, I really don't update this very often, do I? One consequence of me not updating this page is that people have probably stopped checking it for new postings. So how long will it be before some one reads this post? Possibly an eternity!

Any way, things are generally good at the Jebe haus. Alex can some times be a handful, but he's a boy and he's three so that's easy to explain. All in all he's a really good kid, and is very helpfula nd loving with his sister. Some things of note in the world of Alex, he got a giant inflatable jumper donated to him by my coworker Scott. He loves to play in it and it has been a nice way for us to help him burn some energy on colder days. He's also been taking swimming lessons once a week with Carrie. He likes it, but his attention span isn't alowing him to make the most of it. Oh well, he's three. He also has expressed his love for bacon and sausage... attaboy!

Sona is getting older by the day, and has been a lot of fun when she's not whining. She went from sitting, to standing, to crawling in less than two weeks. Now she's all over the place trying to eat anything that fits in her mouth. She'd growing some more teeth and has been waking up several times a night. It's been exhausting for Carrie and I, but we know it's only temporary. Her first birthday is coming up quick!

Fortunately this weekend we'll get a chance to rest. It's Carrie's birthday on Saturday and my parents have offered to take both kids Friday and Saturday night so that we can get away. We're going to the Dells and will be sleeping and eating our way through the weekend. It's supposed to be a treat for Carrie, but I get all the benefits too. Best gift ever!

Roller Rukus
Noah and I attended the Brew City Bruisers roller derby Saturday night, and it was awesome. A coworker of mine is on the Rushin' Rollettes and they won their bout on the last play of the match. It was exciting and fun. I have a feeling I will be attending every event they host this season.

After the event they had a party at the Horny Goat Hidaway, the pub for a local brewery. I like their beer, and I'd always wanted to go. Double whammy! Thanks to Noah for driving.

Lights, Camera, Action!
Alex got a digital camera for Christmas (thanks Jackie & Noah) and he's been using it non-stop. You can see the results of his hard work in the special section of the Alex photo gallery. If you are asked for a password to enter please contact the site administrator for help.

Murry Christmas to All
We had an awesome Christmas! It was pretty exhausting hauling two young children all over the place. The logistics involved in making sure you have all the diapers, meals, snacks, clothes, and nap accessories is a lot of work, but we managed and we had a great time in the process.

This is really the first Christmas Alex will remember. He heard Santa's jingle bells as we got ready for bed on xmas eve. He put food on the drive way for the reindeer to eat (thanks for the food Jackie), and he left cookies and milk out for Santa. Then he had four consecutive days of constant gift opening. He now has enough really cool toys to last a life time, and he spends his days running frantically between them. It's a joy to see.

Carrie and I made out pretty well ourselves. I got a smattering of gifts from all of my areas of interest, and a cross stitched sign for my desk at work. Carrie got me a board game that I'm totally hooked on. If you ever get a chance to play it, you should.

We were fortunate enough to see most of our friends and family, but we missed seeing James, the Theobalds, and the Jebe extended family. I wish we could have seen them all, but juggling multiple gatherings and traveling long distances with young children just doesn't allow for it. I wish everyone lived closer so we could see each other more often.

Thanks to Jackie & Noah for getting all of our friends together. Sorry for the mess we leave in your home. Thanks to everyone who welcomed us into their homes and who loaded our children up with new clothes, books, and toys. You really helped make a memorable holiday for them both. And thanks to everyone who gave us such special and exstravagant gifts. We are truly spoiled by you all.

Merry Christmas and happy new year to you all!

Halloween, Birthday, Sick, Potty
Alex really enjoyed Halloween. It's really the first time that he's been old enough to understand a holiday and to get excited for it. He dressed up like Mario and went door to door getting an amazing amount of candy. We had friends and family over to see the lil guy and the pizza party that followed was a success.

The next day was my birthday. I took off work and mostly had a relaxing day. A special sushi lunch and a made from scratch Indian curry dinner made the day very special (and tasty). At the end of the day Carrie came down with a 24 hour stomach bug that she passed on to Alex a few days later.

On Wednesday my friend Noah took me out to see the Admirals who lost in over time. It was still awesome. I need to do that more often. Thanks to every one who contributed to my birthday... it was a much needed break.

Yesterday I finally caught the illness and went home from work early. I literally raced home in an effort to avoid filling my passenger seat with vomit. I made it! I feel much better today but not 100% yet.

Lastly, Alex pooped in his potty last night, and he peed in it this morning. People without kids will think this is gross, and people with kids will understand how awesome this is. He gets to go to the toy store today and pick out a special new toy. He also will get a dum drop every time he uses the potty going forward. He earned it.

R.I.P. Technics 1200
Horrible news just in time for my birthday.

If you’ve ever been a DJ, known a DJ or listened to a DJ, there’s a good chance you’re familiar with Technics. Panasonic’s analogue turntables are legend among scratchers and spinners. And now they’re gone.

Panasonic made the announcement that they’d cease Technics production because of “a decline in demand for these analogue products and also the growing difficulty of procuring key analogue components necessary to sustain production”. In a word: obsolescence.

Around 3.5 million SL-1200 turntables have been sold since 1972. Countless audio mixers and stereo headphones that also bear the Technics name. But with sales of analogue decks being just 5 per cent of what they were 10 years ago, Panasonic’s finally pulled the plug on a classic.

What made Technics so good? A reliable Direct Drive turning mechanism. A heavy, rock-solid 12kg base. And three decades of tradition.

It’s not that Technics are the only analogue turntables in the world. It's that they were the analogue turntables. And now, like any other technology that gets eclipsed, they’re antiques, collectables, curios for fanatics. Lets hope anyone who’s got one keeps it well preserved.

The above story is from Gizmodo. This breaks my heart. I'll be hanging on to my set of 1200s for a few more years.

Horrible Blogger
Wow, I really don't update this as often as I should. Sorry. I'll try to do better.

Ok, let me think about what I can tell you. Sona is doing great. She started trying solid food on Sunday, and I'm hoping she'll be pounding down some tasty green beans, squash, and peas soon. She's growing well although she has been developing a flat spot on the back of her head from always laying the same way. We've been trying to correct that as she'll have to wear a helmet if it doesn't straighten out. Otherwise she's a happy and very talkitive baby.

Alex has started asking a lot of quesitons... about everything. "What is that called", "What does that do", etc. It's cool. He's also very excited for Halloween and he developed a love for Blue's Clues thanks to a Halloween themed DVD my parents got for him. Everything is pumpkins and ghosts these days.

Carrie and I will celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary this Friday by going to the Melting Pot for fondue. Thank God for gift certificates or we'd be celebrating by pan frying Spam. Has it really only been six years? I can hardly remember a time without her... in a good way.

Carrie got to take a little time away from our household insanity last Sunday by attending the fleamarket in Cedarburg with her buddy Jackie. Jackie's husband / my wingman Noah hung out all day and helped me juggle two kids. It was fun. Thanks Noah.

This weekend I get my fair ups as I'll be spending Saturday at my friend Noah's house drinking beer and having a good time. Next weekend is my awesome sister Yellow Julie's birthday. She'll be even older, as if that is possible. Happy early Birthday Drooly!
